2018 Ford Figo: A Look Back






Ford introduced the facelifted and updated Ford Figo for sale in 2018. We take a look back at what Ford did to strengthen its position in die compact hatchback segment at the time.


The revised car gained an updated front end with a new-look mesh grille (with chrome detailing) and daytime running lamps. Restyled taillights were fitted at the back, as well as a new-look rear bumper.

The big changes were inside the cabin, where Ford equipped the facelifted Figo with a 6.5-inch touchscreen featuring Ford's SYNC3 infotainment system. The number of fascia buttons was also reduced, which means the dashboard and centre stack look less cluttered. 

In terms of dimensions, the 2018 Figo is a tad bigger than the outgoing model at 3 941 mm long, 1 704 mm wide and 1 524 mm tall (compared with its predecessor's 3 929 mm, 1 695 mm and 1 524 mm). 

The Ford Figo was available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbodiesel motor then. In petrol guise, it produces 82 kW and 136 Nm, while its sibling offers outputs of 74 kW and 215 Nm. A manual 5-speed gearbox and 5-speed automatic transmission are available.

A Little About The Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback

  Both the saloon and a newly introduced  Chevrolet Cruze for sale  underwent changes to their fascias, including revisions to the dual-port grille, headlamps and front and rear bumpers. The 1.6-litre model rolls on a set of revised 16-inch alloy wheels while the diesel features 17-inch items. On the powerplant front, the 1,6-litre petrol engine now produces 91 kW (up from the previous car’s 80 kW) while the 2,0-litre diesel sees its outputs climb from 110 to 120 kW and 360 N.m of torque, up from the previous unit’s 320 N.m. The 1,8-litre petrol unit’s outputs remain unchanged at 104 kW and 176 N.m of torque.
